How can I search for a property?
How can I print the map?
 |
Click on the Reports tab and use
the Print button to generate a map in a PDF
document. You can choose between A4 or A3 and portrait or landscape.
The map is resized to fit the page and may be at a different
scale to what shows on the screen unless you specify a scale.
You will need to have Adobe Acrobat installed. |
How can I search for a unit or lot in a Strata or Community scheme?
How can I find out property information or obtain a copy of a
title for a block of land?
 |
Click on the Identify button to engage it
and click inside the parcel of land on the map. From the Report
window, select a link to PropertyAssist where you can obtain
property information or order a copy of a title (Title Register
Search). See User Hints- Searching
Land Information |
. |
How can I search by suburb or postcode?
| You can click on the Zoom to a postcode, suburb or
rural locality button, located under the Basics tab
at top left. Alternatively you can select Postcode or Suburb
as the active layer and use the search provided. See User
Hints - Working with Layers. |
 |
How can I find the location of a place name on the map?
 |
Select Place Names (Gazetteer) as the active
layer and use the Place Name Search facility to zoom to the
locality. If there is more than one locality with that name,
you will see more than 1 item was selected and the map covers
all of them. Use the Attribute report function
(under the Reports tab) to select from the locations and click
on 'Zoom' to zero in on the one you want. It is advisable to
turn the Place Names (Gazetteer) display layer on as well. See
User Hints - Working with Selections
and Reports. |
How can I get a list of properties in an area?
| You can select a number of properties (up to 50) using the
Selection tools and then generate a summarised
report that includes address, title reference and valuation
number. The report contents can be exported in a number of formats
to your own PC. See User Hints
- Working with Selections and Reports. |

I have searched using a Certificate of Title (CT) reference but
the map is unchanged?
There are three probable reasons:
- Land Parcels is the current active layer and
the CT reference is for a unit in a Strata scheme or lot in a
Community scheme. Change the active layer to Community-Strata
Plan and try again.
- Community-Strata Plan is the active layer and
the CT reference is not for a unit or lot. Change the active layer
to Land Parcels and try again.
- There is no record linking the address details to the parcel.
This may happen with new parcels where records are still in the
process of being updated.
How do I find a property when I don't know the house number?
You can use the address search without a house number and then
get the property details by clicking on the Identify
button and clicking inside the parcel of land. You can also search
by postcode or suburb - see above.
How current is parcel information?
New divisions of land are usually added to the PLB within a month
following deposit of the plan. Data updates to the PLB occur each
night. House numbers and street names are allocated by relevant
councils and may not initially be associated with recent divisions
of land.
When I start up the Property Location Browser the map is 'pixellated'
and the zoom function is not accurate?
You have probably resized your browser window between starting
the PLB and the map image loading. The PLB uses the available screen
space (when you start or request a map) to scale the map image and
since you have changed the space, it appears distorted. The simple
solution is to use the Refresh function to get
a correctly scaled image. See User
Hints - Key things to know.
What coordinate system is used in the Property Location Browser?
The PLB uses latitudes and longitudes referenced to the Geocentric
Datum of Australia (GDA94).
Can I use the latitude and longitude from PLB in my GPS to find
my boundary?
No. See Geoscience
Australia for more information on GPS. The map data
in the PLB is derived from digital data or compiled from graphic
documents of varying accuracy and is not suitable for determining
the position of boundaries. You should engage the services of a
licensed surveyor to determine property boundaries.
How can I find the area of my property?
The map projection used in the PLB is not suitable to determine
areas and an area tool is not available. Measurements for calculating
areas are generally provided on survey plans and titles available
from the PropertyAssist
web site.
How can I find the measurements of my property?
Measurements for property boundaries are provided on survey plans
and titles available from the PropertyAssist
web site. You should engage the services of a licensed surveyor
to determine the location of property boundaries.
