GUIDELINES FOR SUBMITTING A PROPOSAL TO ASSIGN A NAME TO A PLACE OR ALTER AN EXISTING NAME (INCLUDING THE ALTERATION OF SUBURB AND LOCALITY BOUNDARIES) The Surveyor-General is responsible for investigating naming proposals and making recommendations to the Minister. Proposals to assign a new name or alter an existing name must be forwarded in writing to the Surveyor-General through the Geographical Names Unit. When preparing a proposal, consideration must be given to the Geographical Names Guidelines. Proposals not meeting these guidelines generally will be unsuccessful. Proposals should contain:
