Printing details or images correctly
Microsoft Internet Explorer - Missing Information Printouts:
Users operating Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 5.5 may find
information missing from result screen printouts. To rectify the
problem, double left click on the Title Bar,
this will shrink the screen. Click on the bottom right
hand corner and drag out to resize the screen. Check
that changes are effective by clicking File and
then Print Preview. Previously missing
information should be visible on screen.
Handy printing tips:
- PropertyAssist is delivered as html pages with no page breaks.
This can result in detail and images being split across pages.
Users can either print a page at a time or can "save to file" and
manipulate the file to achieve presentation quality screens.
- Get into the habit of printing results screens as they are
returned. Some browsers may not hold the information and it is
lost upon subsequent queries.
- Use landscape orientation in your printer setup for
pages of table data wider than a standard sheet.
- Change setups in your browser for header and footer detail.
This creates more useable printing area reducing overwrite of
detail.
- If a PropertyAssist screen prints the background and titles
in-fill black, it is a result of your browser settings.
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, choose View, then Internet
Options, Advanced, scroll to the
Printing section and ensure that "Print background colours and images" is
disabled. For other browsers, change the equivalent settings.
Saving details or images to file
Users can save the property search results using the browser's File/Save
As option to save as a .html file. However this
does not save the DCDB image. To do this right click anywhere
in the image and "Save Picture As..." a
gif image in your nominated directory.
Viewing TIFF images
Survey plan images from PropertyAssist and PIERS Online are TIF
Group 4 Fax images. Click here to
test that you can view TIF images. Survey plan images are best
printed in landscape orientation.
You may have QuickTime installed as your default image viewer
and are unable to display and print these images. A recommended
quick fix for this problem is to:
- Attempt to display an image
- Right click in the blank Image Viewer window
- Go into the QuickTime properties and unassociate the TIF file
type from QuickTime
Another method is to change the application that automatically
opens TIF file types.
On Microsoft Windows, this is achieved by opening My
Computer, click on View, scroll down
to Folder Options and click on File
Types. Under File Type Details,
you can change the application associated with TIF files.
