If you believe the valuation of your property is incorrect in comparison
to sales of similar properties in your area you should
Within 60 days of the receipt of a Notice of
Valuation, send an objection in writing to the State Valuation Office,
clearly stating the grounds for the objection.
Your written objection should
include the address of the property, your contact number, details regarding
the condition of the improvements on the property, along with any recent
market evidence to support your objection.
There is no charge for an objection.
Objection Forms
To assist you in completing
a written objection, standard objection forms are available above to assist
you in completing an objection, or can be requested from the State Valuation
Office. Once the form has been completed click 'send objection'
button and all information will be sent direct to the State Valuation
Office.
If you are dissatisfied with
the outcome of the decision you may, within 21 days, seek a review of
the valuation by an independent valuer who will review the valuation evidence.
The fee for a review is as follows:
- $81.75 - land used solely as your principal place of residence, and
- $202.00 - for all other properties.
the above fees are effective for the 2008/2009 financial year
Should the independent valuer determine the
value should be varied by an amount of greater than 10% of the Valuer-General's
valuation then that value will be adopted. The fee will be refunded in
this instance.
If you are still dissatisfied
with the valuation after the review, you may appeal to the Land and Valuation
Court in accordance with the rules of the Supreme Court.
